SPORTS Whareama School participates in a variety of sports culminating in competitions with other country schools in cross country, athletics and swimming. Students are then chosen to participate in the town competitions. We also participate in the Kiwi Cricket and Rippa Rugby tournaments. Children are also encouraged to participate in a winter sport.
EDUCATION OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM (EOTC) This type of instruction is an important part of the curriculum delivery process. Trips are relevant to the unit study at the time. Year 7 and 8 take part in a senior camp every two years where their outdoor experiences are extended. Parents are asked to sign a permission slip at the beginning of each year covering any local day trips within the Wairarapa. For any other trips outside the area or overnight separate permission is sought.
SWIMMING POOL The swimming pool is available for use by members of the community out of school hours (including holidays) during the summer months. A key to the pool may be purchased from the school office at a cost of $50.00 per season. Please Note: All primary and pre-school children must be supervised by an adult—18 years or over. The pool rules as listed on the notice board should be strictly observed.
