School Essentials

Attendance

If a child is unable to attend school for any reason the school must have a telephone call before the start of school or a note from the parents explaining the situation. If a child normally travels on a school bus the bus driver also needs to be contacted. The electronic version on this website can also be used.
The school must be informed of any student being collected from school or a change to the usual routine.

Digital Connections

Our school uses Seesaw to connect parents to students learning and this can be downloaded from the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android).  All parents are sent an invite to join their child’s page.
We also use the Skool Loop app for all school related notices and basic information.  This once again can be downloaded onto your devices.

Emergency Procedures  |  Charter   |  Policies

Emergency procedures are displayed around the school and emergency and pandemic plans along with the School Charter and a copy of the school policies are available for viewing in the school office, or via our School Docs website

Friends of Whareama

We have a parent committee to organise fund raising events. At times parents are asked to help by giving their time or by supplying baking etc.  Any funds raised are used for school trips or put towards new purchases e.g. library books, equipment etc.

Office Hours

The school office is manned on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from  8.30am – 4.30pm.

Parking

The entrance to the school must be kept clear at all times. This area has been designated for the buses to drop off/pick up students and is clearly marked with yellow lines. Cars are discouraged from parking across the road from the school. Parking space has been provided further along in front of the fence. No cars are allowed to use the driveway during school hours.

School Uniform

The school has a uniform, polo-shirt and track suit, which must be worn on outings and to sports events.

These are provided by the school. All children must wear their polo-shirt along with black shorts to sporting events.

All children must wear footwear to and from school. Gumboots are not regarded as suitable school footwear.

Smoke Free Zone

The school buildings and grounds are Smoke Free. This is now law and any parents and visitors who do not respect this will be asked to leave the premises.
